I always love the look of this little resto at the end of an alley by Ralliement, Ma petite cantine.
It's been a fun week of Cincinnati Chili and trivia. On Wednesday some of my students came to our ever successful trivia night at the Irish Pub and when I asked for their team name they came up with the Cincinnati Reds! Perhaps inspired by my talk of the countdown to pitchers and catchers reporting to Spring Training in class that day, which was followed by an explanation of who the pitchers and catchers are since no one knew. We had maybe 100 students show up, it's always lots of fun. Only problem is we have one team that keeps winning and I think we organizers have probablyy shown a little too clearly our dislike for that.
Thursday was a very Cincinnati night with my Puerto Rican friend and her French husband when I brought some Skyline chili over for them to try for dinner that night. And Yamily served rum she brought from back home and served it a very Caribbean way, with sugar and lime. It was so fun! There's something so wonderful about sharing things special from your home with people from elsewhere. They were equally excited about experiencing Cincinnati Chili and even cheddar cheese, and I think they loved it. The talk about who makes the Skyline cheddar cheese and where exactly [it's distributed from Fairfield, OH apparently], along with the close reading of the bag, was amusingly French to me.
Not too much else to report I reckon, besides to wish y'all a bon weekend.
